Gold Adopt a Hive

Product Information
Beekeeping with no "stings" attached!
The world's honey bee population is in decline due to many differing factors which are still being investigated. Here at Heather Hills Farm we want to try and increase awareness of how important bees are to continual survival of all living things.
We have designed a range of adopt a hive packages to suit all pockets and interest levels.
The Gold Package
All recipients of the Gold Package will receive:
A Personalised Adoption Certificate - valid for one year
Personalised letter of introduction explaining the plight of the honey bee
Photographs of your adopted hive and photos of (a few) of your bees
Heather Hills Product Brochure
20% off discount voucher for our online shop (valid for one year)
Packet of wild flower seeds to encourage bees to your garden
100g bar of our Scottish Heather Honey Tablet
340g jar of Scottish Raspberry Jam
340g jar of Scottish Blackcurrant Jam
340g jar of Scottish Strawberry Jam
340g jar of Clover Honey
340g jar of Lime Tree Honey
340g jar of Orange Blossom Honey
These will be delivered by courier at the start of your adoption term and can be sent with a personalised card if bought as a gift.
You will also receive 15% of honey production from your hive during the 12 month adoption term. This will consist of jars of Scottish Blossom Honey and jars of Scottish Heather Honey.
The quantities will vary dependant upon the production (which is dependant primarily on the weather - pray for sunshine!) and will be a minimum of 2 jars of each.
(in an average year one hive will produce 26 jars of blossom and 40 jars of heather)
These honeys will be sent at the end of your adoption term.
BUT THE BEST THING ABOUT THIS PACKAGE IS.... A FULL DAYS BEEKEEPING EXPERIENCE AT HEATHER HILLS FARM!
Along with all the goodies listed above the adoptee is invited to our farm where he/she will be kitted up in a beekeeping suit and taken a tour round the apiaries to visit your hive where (under the careful guidance of our head beekeeper) you will be given a lesson in basic beekeeping. Spotting the queen, checking the health of the hive, lifting the combs, collecting the honey, examing the brood comb etc..
We will then treat you to a typical Scottish Pub Lunch and show you round our extracting and processing facilities and give you another go at handling the bees yourself.
Hopefully you will leave us with a fuller understanding of beekeeping and (we sincerely wish) a desire to become a beekeeper yourself!
